After all of the hard work that went into the events last term, the PTA will be meeting to discuss new ideas for the spring and would welcome new ideas from people. The next meeting will be held on Tuesday 29th January at 2.15 in school, followed by February 12th at 7.30pm in Pre-school. New members are always welcome and will not be given any responsibilities unless they offer; it would just be good to have a different view point on some things.
Lost Property & Spares
There seems to be a large collection of lost property which has amassed over the last term including coats, jumpers, shoes, gloves and trousers. Please speak to Mrs O’Connor if you think you have lost something. It will be left out on parent’s evening for anyone to look at.
If you have any spare PE kit or uniform that is in good condition but too small for your child, we would really appreciate it for spares in the classrooms. Children often have accidents, fall over or spill things and spare clothes are always useful. Please send into your class teacher.
Clubs & Music Lessons
All clubs are up and running, despite the weather. Please could we ask that any outstanding payments are made for clubs and especially music lessons. We have to pay external teachers for these sessions so need the money it to cover the costs.
Activsports will be offering a holiday club for 3 days in the half term. Letters have gone out and the dates are filling up well. Please ask for another letter if you have not seen this and wish to use the club.
During week commencing 4th February, we will be looking at Keeping Safe for our termly curriculum week. This will incorporate road, rail, water, internet and stranger safety across the school. Visitors have been invited in throughout the week to share experiences with the children. On Monday, Class 3 & 4 will be involved in a Play in a Day with Konflux Theatre Company. Parents of these children are invited in at 2.45 to watch the performance. On Friday, we are hoping for a fire engine to be in school for the children to see, as well as a talk from one of the fire fighters. Local police officers will also be in at some point in the week to meet with children. As usual, school will be open on Friday 8th February from 2.30pm for parents to come and look at the work the children have done.
A letter should be on its way in the next few days for you to book an appointment to speak to your child’s teacher. The session will run from 3.30-7.30pm on Wednesday 13th February. Please return the slips to the class teachers so that appointments can be made. I will set up some laptops in the hall on the night to show parents Bug Club, NumberGym and Purplemash, the three ICT based support websites that the children can access from home.
Severn Hospice Collection
A huge thank you to everyone who donated to the collection at the church or one of the performances of the nativity. You were able to raise a total of £333.49 which will be presented to the Hospice next week. Thank you again.
The government have now decided that the website that we have been developing to use as a portal for all of our communication must be available to the general public. We must report and publish a much wider range of information for anyone so the Shropshire Learning Gateway, which is password protected, is no longer the best way for us to do this. As a result, we are currently working on a new website which will replace the single page that is currently available. We would really appreciate your feedback on this once we publish the address, which should be before half term. We will look at using this to try and reduce the amount of paper we are currently using on letters.
