The annual Summer Fair is quickly approaching and the committee met this week to finalise arrangements. Anybody who was not able to attend but would be willing to spend 45minutes on a stall or helping with another way, please contact myself or one of the committee.
The children will be bringing 2 books of raffle tickets home this week to sell. The tickets cost 50p each or £2.50 for the whole book and the stubs and money must be returned to school before the fair. If you have been able to sell your 2 books easily, please contact the office for any extras you may require- the main prizes are printed on the tickets.
The evening will be opened by Rev Beech and begin with the class dances at 5pm. The stalls and amusements will all then open at 5.30pm with the chance to ‘Soak the Ogre’ again this year. A flier to advertise all of the events will be coming home with further details but the children will be asked to donate a bottle of something in return for non-uniform day on 4th July.

Well done teams Hodnet!
Fantastic news that our rounders team won the local tournament and today are representing our area against St Peters School in Wem. Tonight, our year 2 children are playing football and Tag Rugby against Market Drayton Infant School and two teams from Y3 and 4 will be taking part in a Tag Rugby tournament at the end of the month. Yesterday, Miss Darmanin went to the local swimming gala where a small team competed. They did very well in their heats and have been praised for their attitude and behaviour.
Curriculum Week- WW1
This term our curriculum week will focus on learning about aspects of life and events during World War 1. The children will look at a range of topics and learn a song from the era. We had hoped to go on a whole school visit but the costs were prohibitive, even with a generous donation from the Whixall and Weston Charity. This money will be used to enable us to invite Konflux Theatre Company to spend the day with class 3&4 to produce their own play on the theme of All the Kings Men. The children will perform their play at 2.55 to the rest of the school and their parents.
If anyone is able to support with the work during this week or has resources that they would be willing to share, please contact the school or the class teacher. At the end of the week, we would like to invite you in to share what the children have learnt. This will take place from 9.15-10.00 on Friday 27th June. We hope to see as many of you as possible.
If your child is unwell, please inform us before 9.30 on the day of absence and let us know exactly what is wrong eg. cold, headache, sickness, rather than just unwell. We have to input this information into the attendance system. If we are not informed of absence, it will be classed as unauthorised and the EWO will monitor. Just a reminder that if your child is ill with sickness or diarrhoea they must remain off school for 48 hours after the last bout of illness. This is to prevent the spread of infection to others. Thank you.
All children in classes R through to 5 should have brought home all of the information regarding our new online payment system. This will reduce the amount of cash and cheques coming in and out of school to pay for trips, music lessons, uniform and clubs. In September, this can also be used to pay for school dinners. If you have not received your letter, please contact Dawn as she has relevant information saved on file. We have reports of this being used for some trips this term and to pay for clubs. Thank you.
As we seem to be having a spell of warm weather, please ensure your child has a hat and a water bottle in school. They would also benefit from sun cream being applied before they come to school in the morning as we are not allowed to apply.
