A huge thank you to all of you who donated cakes or gave up your time to support Hodnet Hall Gardens Tea Rooms over Easter weekend. It was a huge success with lots of visitors over the two days. In total £1648.50 was raised which will be shared between Hodnet School and the Pre-School.
The summer fair will soon be upon us on Friday 4th July. This will begin with our usual dance from each class on a theme of holidays, followed by a variety of stalls, refreshments and things for the children to do. Raffle tickets will be sent out after half term to sell before the night. If anybody is able to offer any support with donating raffle prizes or helping at the event by manning a stall, please contact a member of school or parents.
The next meeting will take place on Monday 9th June at 7.30pm at the Pre-school building. All welcome.
Holidays in term time
A reminder about our school policy with regards to taking holidays during school time. As you are aware, schools are no longer able to authorise holidays during term time. This is due to current government legislation which was passed last September. The decision to authorise has been taken away from head teachers, in the past we were able to authorise leave for up to a maximum of 10 days, however family holidays are no longer able to be authorised. If you would like a further copy of our amended school attendance policy then please feel free to come in to ask Mrs O’Connor or myself.
Well done teams Hodnet!
This term has seen our children take part in a number of sporting events and competitions, as part of our work for School Games. A team of Y5/6 children beat Longlands at rounders last week and should be very proud of themselves. We have also had Y3/4 children take part in a tennis tournament; Y5/6 boys take part in a football tournament and are looking forward to Tag Rugby for Y3/4, Cricket for Y6 and the local swimming gala after the holidays. Thank you for your support with these events.
Just a reminder that if your child is ill with sickness or diarrhoea they must remain off school for 48 hours after the last bout of illness. This is to prevent the spread of infection to others. Thank you.
Our year 6 children will be attending our annual residential trip after half term. If your child is attending, please ensure you have all of the relevant information about equipment and timings before the end of this week.
All children in classes R through to 5 should have brought home all of the information regarding our new online payment system. This will reduce the amount of cash and cheques coming in and out of school to pay for trips, music lessons, uniform and clubs. In September, this can also be used to pay for school dinners. If you have not received your letter, please contact Dawn as she has relevant information saved on file.
As we seem to be having a spell of warm weather, please ensure your child has a hat and a water bottle in school. They would also benefit from sun cream being applied before they come to school in the morning as we are not allowed to apply.
Internet Access Survey
Thank you to everybody who replied to the initial survey requesting information about how easy it is for your child to access the online support sites we have bought into. This week we have sent out a second copy to any person who has not yet responded as the information is very important in enabling us to use these technologies in the best way for all children. If you received a second copy this week, please complete and return asap.
