Once again we had a fantastic Bonfire Celebration which was the busiest it has ever been. Thanks to JackFlash for the amazing firework display, the group of parents who gave up their Friday to build the fire and everyone who supported on the evening. We have made approximately £2000 profit from the evening which will help to support school in the many ways we do.
Preparations are in place for our Christmas Fayre which will take place on Friday 27th November 4-6pm and include hot food, a variety of outside sellers and children’s Christmas Crafts.
Hodnet Bonfire Display
On Friday 6th November at 6.30pm the gates opened. At 7pm the bonfire got lit. Suddenly a big hot gust of flames whooshed in the air. At 7.30pm the fireworks boomed and sizzled while they set them off at Hodnet School. We celebrate Bonfire night because Guy Fawkes got stopped from exploding the House of Parliament.
As me my Mum and my Dad rushed to go into the hall we met some of my friends. We had a little chat and then we all went to get a hot dog. They were scrumptious! My Mum had some apple juice.
After that we dashed to get to the fireworks. They frantically boomed into the dark night sky. They were very entertaining. Tiredly at 9pm we slowly walked back to the car. We had a great time.
Amazingly the school raised approximately £2000 profit!

Open Afternoon for Prospective Parents
It is the time of year where parents of children, due to start primary school in September, have to decide where would be best for them and make their applications. To support this process, we will be holding two Open Sessions for any prospective parent to come and have a look at our school and see how the Reception class works. I will be available to show people round and answer any questions they may have. If you know of anyone who may be interested, please let them know or ask for a flier in the office. The sessions are Monday 16th November- 1.30-2.30pm and Thursday 26th November 11-12.
Operation Christmas Child
Once again, we will be supporting this very worthy charity. Your child will be bringing home a leaflet today with ideas and instructions for putting together a shoebox of gifts for children around the world. The boxes will be collected on 16th November from school. We have some of the official, pre-printed boxes available at a cost of 30p each. Please contact the school office if you would like to buy one.
Some of our classes will be making a class box, please send in individual items that you may have spare.
Since returning to school, we have had numerous injuries of children after school on the play equipment. Please be aware that this is designed for primary aged children, not toddlers. If your children are on the equipment after school, you are responsible for them and should be standing with them.
Children are not allowed on the equipment before school.
Children In Need
We had some great costumes today ranging from Pink Pudsey to Boxer Boy (complete with pants mask!), James Bond to Harry Potter. Altogether, with Hodnet Pre-School, we have raised £220. Thanks for your support.
We are happy to announce that we have appointed Mr Brown as the Year 1 class teacher for the Spring Term whilst Mrs Lyall is Acting Head teacher. He will be spending some time visiting school and getting to know the children before he starts in January and I am sure will be a great addition to our school.
