The AGM will be taking place at school on Wednesday 14th October at 6.30 pm. There will be refreshments available and a chance to review the past year and make plans for the coming one. Attending the meeting does not mean you have to do a job or be a member of the committee, but may give you an opportunity to find out a little bit more about what goes on.
Plans are well underway for our annual Bonfire Celebration which will be taking place on Friday 6th November. Please let us know if you feel you can help in anyway before hand or on the night.
Macmillan Coffee Afternoon
A huge thank you for all of your support in making this event so successful again. We had lots of parents and grandparents enjoying the lovely cakes donated, as well as the chance to sit and have a catch up. The children all had a lovely time in their classrooms too.
In total we raised £550 which has been sent in to Macmillan.
The school website has been updated with all of the new forms, letters, dates and information you may need throughout the term. Important information regarding Pupil Premium, Sports Premium and SEND has been put on.
The address is: www.hodnetschool.com
This year we are also working on class pages which have been set up. These contain curriculum letters and links to websites that would be appropriate for your child.
Please remember that school dinners now cost £2.10 per day and £10.50 per week. We are having many children still only bringing in the old amount.
I know this seems like and endless reminder but I have daily conversations with parents who are worried by the parking issues. Please ensure that you are not parking in the turning circle, on the yellow zigzags at the entrance or on the yellow zigzags on the main road. I am unable to police this as the roads do not belong to the school, however, I think we would all be very unhappy if an accident occurred which led to an injury or worse.
Our Chair of Governors, Sandy Russell, has decided to stand down following over 10 years on the governing body. I am sure you would all like to join me in saying a huge thank you for all of the support and hard work he has put into ensuring that Hodnet School is the lovely place we all know.
Ian Yeadon, parent governor, has taken over the Chair as of yesterday.
We currently have 3 vacancies on the governing body. If anyone is interested in finding out a little bit more about what goes on and how they might be able to support, please speak to myself or any of the governors. All of their names and information can be found on the website.
Parent Workshop- Early reading
Thank you to those parents who attended the Early Reading workshop with Mrs Noden on Monday, the feedback has been very positive. If you were unable to attend, please ensure you look at the presentation saved on the Parents section of the website.
Since returning to school, we have had numerous injuries of children after school on the play equipment. Please be aware that this is designed for primary aged children, not toddlers. If your children are on the equipment after school, you are responsible for them and should be standing with them.
There have been occasions where young siblings have wandered off out of school, behind containers/sheds or in the nature area and been injured.
Children are not allowed on the equipment before school.
